SA-FE – System Access Fall Elimination UK Ltd – is a Best Practice organisation established to provide a nationally recognised and industry accepted training scheme for system scaffolding and associated equipment. It focuses on systems of work that eliminate the risk of fall during the erection, dismantling and alteration processes and has the support and involvement of leading organisations and companies in the field.
These include manufacturers and suppliers in the system scaffolding, formwork, falsework and event staging system industries – as well as health and safety consultants and training providers. The services it provides are seen as complementary to existing schemes that are already well-established.
Each member is committed to creating and promoting a health and safety driven association that is dedicated to ensuring that professional best practices – through training, experience and knowledge – are provided.
SA-FE Training, in general, is product & process instruction which is based on SA-FE manufacturer’s product guidance and/or their designs. Normally, this type of training is not available or provided in other work at height industry recognized training courses.
An example of this could be an application which requires design using any form of pre-fabricated temporary equipment to create a structure (configuration). This may involve the use of System Scaffolding or Falsework or manufactured products used in conjunction with that type of temporary equipment.
This type of training falls under the categories of ‘additional’, appropriate’ or 'specific’. Under the statutory regulations the user must provide for this type of training/instruction. This may be necessary to be carried out 'On Site' to be more effective and may require understanding and interpretation checking against the specific design or guidance provided.
A fundamental aim of SA-FE Training requires that the process proposed within the design for Erection, Dismantling or Alteration of the guidance or design adopts practice which complies as fully as possible with the requirements of the statutory regulations particularly WAHRs and the best practice inherent in those particular regulations.
