It’s at this point when we look at the New Year ahead of us that we also like to look back on the successes of 2018. We have had a busy year in 2018 with sustained growth in our Contract Scaffolding division, exciting product developments, winning new sales and rental customers, and working towards achieving safer and more productive working environments. With all that in mind, here are some of our 2018 highlights:
Branching out in Edinburgh
July 2018 saw the opening of our Scaffolding Depot in Edinburgh, allowing us to expand our contracting operations across the central belt and into East Lothian and Edinburgh. As a result, we have picked up new contract work and gained a wider customer base with exciting new projects in New-Build Housing, Fabric Repair and Maintenance sectors.
Last year saw the introduction of the composite deck into our sales, rental and contracting stocks. The composite deck is a revolutionary scaffolding product that provides an extremely strong and durable, lightweight platform. The deck is easy to maintain, water and fire resistant, features an anti-slip surface and is fully recyclable. It has been used in several high-profile projects, including the Edinburgh International Festival opening event, an industrial tank refurbishment project in Greenland, continued contracts work in local housing regeneration, and refurbishment projects for Danish and Swedish rental customers.
Denmark and Sweden
Our sales and rental customer base in Denmark and Sweden continued to strengthen over the course of last year. The reaction and feedback from introducing the composite deck was really positive with customers using it for many of their own projects and ongoing scaffolding works.
In August, we received accreditation for ISO 9001:2015. The scope of our certification covers; Design, Manufacture, Repair and Supply of Access Equipment, Hire, Erection and Dismantling of Access Equipment and Work at Height Training.
Turner Group 2018 RoSPA Award
Our Parent Company, the Turner Group, received the Gold Award in the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2018 for the second year running. The RoSPA Awards are given to companies that display best practice in occupational health and safety management systems, including leadership and workforce involvement. The award win coincided with the roll-out of Turner’s ‘Work Safe Home Safe’ initiative, which encourages all employees to consider their safety awareness.
Looking forward in 2019
Our goals for 2019 are to continue with the successes we experienced in 2018; growth and expansion in our contracts operation, developing and growing relationships with our existing customers as well as expanding our customer base, continue to be innovative in our product offering and systems of work, and support and nurture our workforce, providing a safe working environment, development and career opportunities.
