Why is this Scheme necessary? Best Practice Methodology:

The Health & Safety Executive (HSE), and as the Statutory Regulations state, that when selecting equipment for work at height you must:

  • use the most suitable equipment
  • give collective protection measures (e.g. guardrails) priority over personal protection measures (e.g. safety harnesses)

Turner Access Best Practice using Collective Protection Measures, in the form of Advance Guardrails, produces best practice in Work at Height by adopting the highest possible standards as required by the extended objective levels of the Hierarchy of Control Measures (Work at Height Regulations 2005).

Operating at Best Practice with reference to the Hierarchy of Measures requires duty holders to consider the use of collective protection equipment before anything else.

Where normal industry practice and the use of harnesses appear, at best, Level 6 on the Hierarchy, Turner Access Best Practice provides avoidance at Level 1 in the first instance and collective protection at Level 3.

Becoming a Turner Access Approved Training Agent will allow your organisation to take forward this Access Best Practice Methodology and provide practical solutions for safe systems of work at height.

Protect your personnel/client/customer by ensuring all Duty Holders’ compliance under Statutory Regulations.
