Finalists SHP IOSH Awards 2010

Turner Access is shortlisted as Finalists in this year’s SHP IOSH Awards 2010 for Best Health & Safety Achievement in Construction.

The awards submission focused on the ‘Removal of Risks Campaign’, which features Turner’s latest product innovation – BetaGuard®, an Integral Advance Guardrail (Collective Protection Equipment) for use on Aluminium Towers. BetaGuard® provides complete fall prevention during the assembly, dismantle and alteration processes.

   Finalists SHP IOSH Awards 2010

While Statutory Regulations, such as Work at Height Regulations (WAHR) 2005, place hierarchical requirements to use collective protection over mitigation options, BetaGuard® offers more safety benefits than solely preventing the risk of fall from height.

BetaGuard® removes the five main risks associated with the assembly, dismantle and alteration of traditional Aluminium Towers (using the 3T Method). The five risks are as follows:

  1. The risk of fall
  2. The risk of injury while fitting guardrails
  3. The risk of trip when entering/exiting a traditionally braced tower
  4. The risk of positional injury when entering/exiting a traditionally braced tower
  5. The risk of impact injury when entering/exiting a traditionally braced tower

BetaGuard® removes each of these risks through its innovative design and system of work throughout assembly, dismantle and alterations of towers.
